Hugo Vallecillo is a master’s student in Political Science at Columbia University and a recipient of the “la Caixa” Foundation Postgraduate Fellowship Abroad. His research focuses on the politics of labor law enforcement, informality, and labor unions.
Prior to joining Columbia, he earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and an MSc in Political Science and Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), supported by the Ramón Areces Foundation Scholarship Abroad. His previous research and professional experience includes serving as a research assistant at the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies (LIEPP) at Sciences Po Paris and as a Cal-in-Sacramento Fellow at the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. As part of the latter fellowship, he interned with the Office of the Federal Defender for the Eastern District of California.
