The department grants up to $3,000 on a competitive basis to students in satisfactory academic standing to fund research-related travel, research assistance, data and surveys, and other expenses directly related to dissertation research. Grants are awarded each semester.
Applications should include:
- A project description and budget rationale. Students who have previously received department funds for the project should explain why supplemental funds are needed.
- A letter of endorsement from the student's faculty adviser or a member of the student's dissertation committee.
Priority is given to third- and fourth-year students who have completed comprehensive exams and those who have not yet received such funds from the department.
