Samuel Chan

International Relations

Samuel Chan is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. His research broadly focuses on soft power, China’s overseas influence, U.S.-China competition, and Chinese foreign policymaking.

His research has been published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution (“Managing Nationalism: Experiments in China,” 2024, with Kai Quek). Prior to joining Columbia, he received an M.Phil. from the University of Hong Kong, an M.A. from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
