Pierre de Dreuzy is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Columbia University, where his research bridges security studies and international political economy. His dissertation examines the politics of technology export controls in the context of U.S.–China competition. More broadly, he is interested in how states use economic tools to pursue their security goals and how technological interdependence shapes power in international politics. During the 2026–27 academic year, he is a Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow at the O’Brien Notre Dame International Security Center and a fellow in the International Fellows Program at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
Before beginning his Ph.D., Pierre worked at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels and the NATO Defense College in Rome, where he researched the war in Ukraine, Russian nuclear coercion, and the impact of emerging technologies on the battlefield. He holds an M.A. in International Relations, with honors, from the University of Chicago and a First Class Joint Honours B.A. in Political Science and History from McGill University.
