The purpose of this course is to examine the foundations and current scholarly understanding of American public opinion and other forms of political behavior. By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of why Americans hold the political opinions and identify with the parties they do, why some choose to vote and others do not, and the current contours of the study of political behavior: what have we learned, and what still remains to be learned? This course will focus on analyzing the behavioral component of contemporary American politics
