Biography

Michael Auslen is a Ph.D. candidate in political science specializing in American politics and quantitative methods. His research interests are political representation, state and local politics, media, and public opinion. In particular, he is working to understand the effects that changing local news environments have on subnational politics. He is also working on issues related to measurement of public opinion.

Mr. Auslen previously worked as a journalist, covering Florida politics and state government for the Tampa Bay Times and Miami Herald. He holds a master's degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a B.A. in journalism and political science from Indiana University.
