Haejo Kang is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. Her research broadly concerns political accountability and elite behavior in comparative perspective. Her dissertation examines how historically embedded leadership ideals shape the ways societies judge and punish elite misconduct today. Drawing on AI-driven analysis of canonical political texts spanning millennia, she constructs original cross-national data linking historical political thought to contemporary accountability outcomes.
Prior to her doctoral studies, Ms. Kang received an M.A. in International Affairs from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. in International Studies from Korea University.
