Courses

For spring 2019, the colloquium will focus on the political philosophy of Thomas Hobbes, especially his principal work, Leviathan. Using the new Norton Critical Edition of Leviathan (to be published summer 2019; copies to be supplied by the instructor), we will read the work carefully in its entirely. We will also read a limited selection of other writings by Hobbes and a limited selection of commentaries by critics and interpreters.
