Research Interest

Lisa Fan is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Columbia University, studying international relations and comparative politics. Her research focuses on gender and authoritarian regimes. In her dissertation, she uses machine learning and natural language processing to examine how party loyalty shapes the link between women’s descriptive and substantive representation in electoral autocracies. Prior to enrolling at Columbia, she graduated summa cum laude from Wellesley College.
