Tyler Mallory is an M.A. student in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University with a specialization in international relations. Mr. Mallory received a dual B.A. in political science and international studies from the College of Charleston, graduating summa cum laude from the Honors College. His research interests include the international relations of East Asia, international political economy, and sustainable development.
His undergraduate thesis was titled “Exploring Perceptions of COVID-19 Vaccination Among African American Students at the College of Charleston.” In this project, Mr. Mallory employed a qualitative research design, gauging how the cross-sectional influences of historical discrimination perpetrated by the medical system, education, and racial identity impacted the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines by African American students and how such students could potentially be catalysts by which marginalized communities could bolster their vaccination rates.
