Tara Slough is a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at Columbia University and a Predoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2020, she will join New York University as Assistant Professor of Politics.
Ms. Slough writes on the political economy of institutions and development. Her dissertation focuses on the distributive politics of the bureaucracy with application to low- and middle-income democracies. She has conducted fieldwork in Argentina, Colombia, Haiti, Malawi, Nigeria, Peru, and Venezuela.
Her work is supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Her research has also benefited from additional support from the NSF, USAID, EGAP/DFID, J-PAL, the Columbia Institute for Latin American Studies, and the Center for the Study of Development Strategies.
Ms. Slough earned both a BM in Violin Performance and a BA in Political Science from Rice University.
