Biography

Stephanie Char is a Ph.D. candidate in international relations with research interests in economic and military coercion, international organizations, and human rights. Her regional expertise is in East and Southeast Asia, especially China’s foreign relations. Her dissertation examines the causes and effects of countercriticism coercion by China.

Ms. Char graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University, where she received a B.A. from the School of Public and International Affairs and a certificate in East Asian Studies. In 2022-23, she was a Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow in Grand Strategy at the University of Notre Dame.
