Norashiqin Toh is a Ph.D. candidate in political science, focusing on international relations and comparative politics. Her dissertation work uses mixed methods and a deep regional knowledge of Southeast Asia to reexamine established theories in the field. These include longstanding civilian support for insurgencies, issue (non-)adoption in international organizations, and overlapping governance of transboundary resources. Her work has received support from the Weatherhead East Asian Institute. Born and raised in Singapore, she holds a B.A. with honors in political science, and a B.A. in English-poetry writing from the University of Virginia. She received her M.A. and M.Phil. from Columbia University in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
