Leena Haider is a master’s candidate in Political Science at Columbia University, specializing in political theory and American politics. Her research focuses on political behavior, justice and liberty, sovereignty and state power, and the intersection of liberalism and civil liberties. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from New York University, where she also completed minors in Law and Society and Anthropology.
Ms. Haider currently serves as the Social Sciences Senator for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences on the Columbia University Senate. Additionally, she is a teaching assistant for Professor Miller’s Introduction to American Politics course in the fall of 2024. Her professional experience includes consulting for the Centre for Research in Economics and Business, serving as a research assistant at NYU, and contributing as a writer for International Relations Insider, where she covered foreign relations, economic policy, and humanitarian issues in North America and South Asia.
Ms. Haider also gained significant experience as a research intern with the National Commission for Human Rights in Pakistan, where she cultivated a strong commitment to human rights advocacy. In 2022, she presented her political science research at conferences hosted by NYU, Stanford, and Johns Hopkins. She remains dedicated to advancing her academic and research career in political science.
