Keegan Butler is a Master of Arts candidate in Political Science at Columbia University, concentrating in American Politics. His research interests include genocidal empires, domestic terrorism in 21st-century America, and U.S. foreign policy failures masked as democracy promotion.
Prior to attending Columbia, Mr. Butler graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Woodbury University's College of Liberal Arts. He was awarded the Academic Excellence in Political Science Award for achieving the highest GPA in the program. His senior thesis, U.S. Foreign Policy: Causal to the U.S.-Mexico Border Crisis, examined the direct correlation between U.S. foreign interventions in Latin America and the ongoing border crisis.
During his undergraduate years, Mr. Butler served as Vice President of the United Nations Association Student Chapter, where he amplified U.N. goals on university campuses. He also worked closely with Dr. H. Eric Schockman, Professor Emeritus, to draft the constitution for UNITY, Woodbury's LGBTQIA+ association. His political experience includes campaign work for Karen Bass' mayoral race in Los Angeles and Sara Gideon’s U.S. Senate campaign in Maine, supporting Planned Parenthood's efforts to unseat Senator Susan Collins.
