Ian Mak is a graduate student in the Political Science M.A. Programme with a specialization in political theory. He earned his BA in Politics and Sociology (Human, Social and Political Sciences Tripos) at the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with a triple First Class. Ian was the recipient of the St Edmund's College prize in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and also served in the college's committee.
Mr. Mak is a Singapore Government Scholar with the Ministry of Communications and Information. He has a strong interest in the history of political thought and how we can apply political theory to analyze contemporary issues. Ian's undergraduate dissertation, supervised by Professor Duncan Kelly, entitled "Traditional Elite Theory and the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis", is a good example of this approach.
