Columbia-Sciences Po Dual Ph.D.

In partnership with Sciences Po (Paris), the department offers a dual Ph.D. degree in political science that allows students to spend two years at the partner institution. Students take courses and conduct research at both institutions, write a dissertation under the direction of a joint Columbia-Sciences Po dissertation committee, and eventually become eligible to receive the Ph.D. degree of both institutions.

Dual degree students are granted unique opportunities to broaden and deepen their knowledge of the discipline in an international intellectual environment and pursue their conduct research under the supervision of joint faculty teams of the highest academic quality.

The program is open only to students enrolled in the Ph.D. program in political science at Columbia University or at Sciences Po. Before beginning their residency at Sciences Po, Columbia students must have completed at least four semesters of residency (i.e. four RU's) and all the other requirements for admission to Ph.D. candidacy, including the dissertation proposal defense. Applications are open to Sciences Po students enrolled in the first year of Ph.D. studies.

The Alliance Program website provides details about program requirements, the application procedure, and FAQ's.
