Brigitte L. Nacos is a journalist, political scientist and author with a Ph.D. from Columbia University (1988). She has published a number of books, chapters in edited volumes, and many articles. Her primary teaching and research interests are the linkages between mass media, public opinion, and decision-making; the role of communication in the spread of conspiracy theories; and terrorism and counterterrorism.
Among her more recent books are Terrorism and Counterterrorism (Routledge), now in its sixth edition, and Mass-Mediated Terrorism (Rowman & Littlefield), three editions. She is co-author of Selling Fear: Counterterrorism, the Media, and Public Opinion (University of Chicago Press).
