Dr. Brigitte L. Nacos is a journalist, author, and adjunct professor of political science at Columbia University. She has published a number of books, chapters in edited volumes, and many articles. Among her more recent books are Terrorism and Counterterrorism (Pearson) and Mass-Mediated Terrorism (Rowman & Littlefield). She is co-author of Selling Fear: Counterterrorism, the Media, and Public Opinion (University of Chicago Press).
Dr. Nacos is an expert on mass media, public opinion, and decision-making as well as on terrorism and counterterrorism. She lectures at the NATO “Centre of Excellence Defence Against Terrorism” in Ankara, Turkey, and is a member of a three-person Academic Advisory Board of the European Union-funded academic research network on “Violent Online Political Extremism and Responses to It.”
