Abhit Bhandari is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in comparative politics and the political economy of development. He studies how political inequality shapes economic exchange, property rights, and formal and informal institutions, with a regional focus in sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to Columbia, he worked for the United Nations World Food Programme in Senegal. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and African Studies from Northwestern University, and is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
