Abhit Bhandari is a Ph.D. candidate whose research is at the intersection of comparative and international political economy of development. His research explores formal and informal institutions and their role in economic exchange, property rights, and democracy, with a focus in West Africa.
Prior to Columbia, he worked for the United Nations World Food Programme in Senegal. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and African Studies from Northwestern University, and is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
