Aslihan Saygili is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University, specializing in International Relations and Comparative Politics. Her research interests include civil conflict, secessionism, self-determination movements, terrorism and counter-terrorism. She is currently working on her dissertation, which explores the role of domestic politics in shaping government policy towards ethnic minorities seeking self-determination.
Prior to graduate school, Aslihan was a research intern with the Peace and Security Program at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin. She received a B.A in International Relations from Bogazici University in Istanbul and studied abroad at the Otto Suhr Institut of Political Science at Free University of Berlin.
