Kunaal Sharma is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University as well as a Jennings Randolph Peace Scholar at the U.S. Institute of Peace. His dissertation, which focuses on India, examines the effect of elite persuasion on religious extremism in northern India.
Kunaal's research has been funded by The Brookings Institution and Columbia's Center for the Study of Development Strategies. He has consulted for several research organizations, including the Tony Blair Faith Foundation and Freedom House.
Prior to graduate school, Kunaal was the South Asia research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC, where he primarily researched political and security issues in Pakistan. He received his M.A and B.A. in political science (with honors) from Columbia.
