Luise Marianne Papcke
Luise Papcke is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. She specializes in Political Theory, with a focus on liberal theory and the role of German liberal thought within the liberal tradition. Her research interests furthermore include technology and contemporary challenges to individual autonomy and individuality, freedom of association, and comparative political theory, more specifically Chinese liberal political thought (Yan Fu and Hu Shi). A former recipient of the German National Academic Scholarship, Luise holds a French-German double MA in political theory from Sciences Po Paris and Free University Berlin, and a BA in political science from Free University Berlin. She also studied at both Nanjing University and Beijing University in China. She is currently Lead Teaching Fellow at the Columbia University Center for Teaching and Learning and recipient of the Humane Studies Fellowship of the Institute for Humane Studies.
