Andrew Scott Cooper is an historian and commentator on U.S.-Iran relations, global energy markets, and geopolitical risk. He is author of Fall of Heaven: The Pahlavis and the Last Days of Imperial Iran and The Oil Kings: How the US, Iran and Saudi Arabia Changed the Balance of Power in the Middle East. His research has been published in the Middle East Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Economist, and elsewhere.
Dr. Cooper holds masters' degrees in Journalism (Columbia University, 1994) and Strategic Studies (University of Aberdeen, 2008), and a Ph.D. in History (Victoria University, 2012). He completed an academic sabbatical in Qom, Iran (University of Al-Mustafa) in 2013.
