Justin Key Canfil
Justin K. Canfil is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. He specializes in International Relations, and researches topics at the nexus of international law/organizations, innovation theory, and security studies. His dissertation investigates the relationship between technology and foreign and defense policy.
Prior to coming to Columbia, Justin worked as an international affairs and political professional. He has held a public policy fellowship in the United States Congress, served as an operative on several political campaigns, co-coordinated a White House ONDCP-DFC educational grant, and managed Track II & public diplomatic programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of State at the Council on World Affairs in Cleveland.
A summa cum laude graduate of Ohio State University, he was also a visiting student at the University of Oxford in 2010, where he studied comparative and international jurisprudence. He holds MA and MPhil degrees from Columbia and earned a specialized minor (international/public law) via the Columbia Law School curriculum (2015-2016).
