Katznelson Receives Bancroft Award

 

Congratulations to Professor Ira Katznelson, whose Fear Itself: The New Deal and the Origins of Our Time has been awarded one of two 2014 Bancroft Prizes. The Bancroft Prize, established in 1948, is awarded annually by the Columbia University trustees and is considered to be one of the most distinguished academic awards in the field of history. Fear Itself and A Misplaced Massacre: Struggling over the Memory of Sand Creek, by Professor Ari Kelman of the University of California, Davis, were selected from among 190 nominated works in American history and diplomacy for their scope, significance, depth of research and richness of interpretation.
