Blattman Studies Cash Handouts to Poor

Professor Christopher Blattman's research suggests that simple cash handouts might be one of the most effective anti-poverty tools in the world. In The New York Times, he suggests that it may be time to try direct cash transfers in New York.

In conversation with WNYC's Amy Eddings, he explained that it might cost less to give the homeless cash directly than to pay for the distribution of goods to the homeless.
